In the case you experience incompatibilities with MySQL workbench, you can change the version of Workbench to help troubleshoot the issue.

The information below is standard troubleshooting, in an attempt to find the most compatible version for your Mac.

Remove the current version of MySQL Workbench
Locate it in Applications
Right-click and Move to Trash
Get the latest version of MySQL Workbench
Visit: https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/workbench/
Select your operating system as MacOS
Determine your Mac Laptop chip
From the Apple menu in the upper-left corner of your screen, choose About This Mac

- If you have an Mac with an M series chip, choose the ARM, 64-bit version.
- If you have a Mac with an Intel Chip, choose the x86, 64-bit version
Choose Download
Open the DMG file
Drag the application to your Application folder
Problem occurs with the latest version
Follow the steps above to remove the current version
Then download and try a previous version
Download a previous version of MySQL workbench
Visit https://downloads.mysql.com/archives/workbench/
Select a product version prior to the latest (8.0.36 as an example)
Select your Operating System as MacOS
Select the OS Version that matches your Mac chip
- Note that if you select versions prior to 8.0.33, they only have an x86 version.
- This may still work on M1 macs in compatibility mode
